Hello everyone! Today, a wide scope of Toxicology will be discussed. We will discuss the poisoning by specific Pharmaceutical agents. Let's begin!!
Let us begin with a brief introduction to Toxicology.
TOXICOLOGY
Toxicology is a scientific discipline,, that involves the study of the adverse effects of chemical substances on living organisms and the practice of diagnosing and treating exposures to toxins and toxicants.
-----------------------------------------------
- Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen, is used to treat fever and mild to moderate pain. Common brand names include Tylenol and Panadol.
- Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid, is a medication used to reduce pain, fever, or inflammation. Aspirin-specific inflammatory conditions used for treatment include Kawasaki disease, pericarditis, and rheumatic fever.
- Lithium is a type of medicine known as a mood stabilizer. Certain lithium compounds, also known as lithium salts, are used as psychiatric medication, primarily for bipolar disorder and a major depressive disorder that does not improve following the use of antidepressants. Lithium, in these disorders, sometimes reduces the risk of suicide. Lithium is taken orally.
- Iron: Ferrous sulfate is a medicine used to treat and prevent iron deficiency anemia. Iron helps the body to make healthy red blood cells, which carry oxygen around the body.
