Hello everyone! Today I am back with a different topic and, my today's blog orbits around "Rabies" It is a very general condition that is developed by an animal bite. Well, let us get into the intensities of this complication and explore a bit about it. Let's get started!!
GENERAL INTRODUCTION:-
The first thing you need to know about it is Rabies is contagious and, the second one is it is caused by an animal bite.
CAUSES:-
Let us get properly to it. Rabies infection is caused by the rabies virus. The virus is spread through the saliva of infected animals. Infected animals can spread the virus by biting another animal or a human. In rare cases, rabies can be spread when infected saliva gets into an open wound or the mucous membrane, such as the mouth or eyes. Scars by claws of infected animals are also vulnerable because these creatures lick their claws.
HOW IT IS TRANSFERRED?
But the question that sparks up here is how it is transferred on to human beings? Well, the answer to this question is that every mammal can get rabies. Just like scabies, it is transferred from an animal to a human. The most common animals in which rabies is transferred are raccoons, skunks, bats, and foxes. Domestic mammals can also get rabies. Cats, cattle, and dogs are the most frequently reported rabid domestic animals in Pakistan. So that forms the chain. It is transferred to animals and from the animal; it is then transferred to human beings.
One more thing you need to know is that Rabies is fatal. One who is affected can only live for up to 3-4 months and not more.
SYMPTOMS:-
The first manifestations of rabies can appear from a few days to more than a year after the bite happens. Following are the primary and secondary symptoms:-
At first,
l There's a tingling, prickling, or itching feeling around the bite area.
l Then the affected starts to face flu.
Then there is:-
l Headache
l Muscle ache
l Tiredness
l Loss of appetite
l Nausea
l Water phobia
l Fever
Tips to Prevent Rabies
· Vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies as required by law.
· Keep dogs and cats under control.
· Leave stray or unknown dogs and cats alone.
· Leave wild animals alone.
· Do not keep wild animals as pets.
· Make your property unattractive to wild animals.
Rabies is a very dangerous complication. Pakistan is one of the major countries where Rabies is found. However, it is our duty to protect ourselves from these things. But it would not mean that you cannot keep pets. You can, but by keeping them vaccinated and by taking care of their health as you take care of yours. After all, they are also beings and have a right to live freely and healthily. Together we need to demolish this virus from this venomous virus. Yes, together we can!!
